Screening of “The Message” stopped in Hyderabad.

Screening of “The Messagestopped in Hyderabad.

The Question comes in our mind. WHY?

The Message’ was produced and directed in Hollywood by Oscar-nominated Egyptian director Moustapha Akkad in 1976. And Saad Ahmed and Yamshi Ahmed produced it in Arabic asAl-Risalah. The Message’ has recently been released in India in its Hindi-Urdu dubbed version.

Leaders of Majlis-e-Ittehaadul Muslimeen in Hyderabad has been successful in getting the movie pulled out of theatres in Hyderabad which he contended, had portrayed Islam in a bad light.
The movie was approved by none less than Cario’s Al-Azhar university (the highest seat of Sunnis) and by the Shia scholars.
The film follows the years in which Muhammad is actively pursuing his role as the Prophet of Islam starting with the early years in Mecca in which the Muslims were persecuted, the exodus to Medina and ending with the Muslims’ triumphant return to Mecca. A number of crucial events, such as the Battle of Badr and Battle of Uhud are depicted, and the majority of the story is told from the point-of-view of peripheral individuals such as Hamza ibn ‘Abd al-Muttalib (Muhammad’s uncle), Abu Sufyan (the leader of Mecca) and Hind bint Utbah (an enemy of Islam). Niether the Prophet nor his main companions (Hazrat Ali ,Hazrat Abubakar, Hazrat Umar, or Hazrat Usman) were shown.

in the movie Moustapha Akkad in a 1976 said “I think there was something personal, being Muslim myself who lived in the west I felt that it was my obligation my duty to tell the truth about Islam. It is a religion that has a 700 million following, yet it’s so little known about it which surprised me. I thought I should tell the story that will bring this bridge, this gap to the west.”

I think it should be screened for the masses; it would hopefully give them some idea of his life, conditions and at least to a small extent ‘the message’.
